Back up your data
Couchwork backs itself up every night. It's worth adding an off-site copy, so a broken or stolen machine can't take your history with it.
You must be an admin. If your Couchwork is hosted by us, backups are looked after for you.
Look at your backups
- Click Settings → Backups.
- You'll see the history of backups, when each one ran and whether it worked.
- Click Back up now to take one straight away, for example before a big change.
You can change the time of the nightly backup and how many days to keep them.
Add an off-site copy (do this)
A backup that lives on the same machine as Couchwork doesn't help if the machine dies. Under Off-site copy, choose where each backup should also be sent:
- Cloud storage such as S3, Backblaze B2 or Wasabi.
- Another server over SFTP.
- WebDAV, for example Nextcloud.
- A folder, such as a USB drive or NAS.
Fill in the details and click Test connection to check it works.
The off-site copy is encrypted with a passphrase that Couchwork shows you once. Save it in a password manager, somewhere other than the machine itself. Without it, the backup can't be opened.
If a backup fails
Admins are sent a message from the AI (and a phone notification) if a backup or off-site copy fails, at most once a day.
You can also use Download a backup to keep a copy yourself.
